Serving South Sudan believes in self sustainability and equipping churches in the development of small business that can support the ministry and ministers’ families. Many pastors and ministers are prevented from continuing in ministry because of lack of funding. We have started small business initiatives but realize that we need people gifted in the area of finance and business to help coach, teach and encourage leaders starting in business.
Many a time it is women who have the drive and aptitude to grow and maintain the business because the full weight of ministry responsibilities do not rest on them.
Serving South Sudan is looking for a couple or a single who have a willing heart for this kind of ministry. It requires travel to the various business and ministry locations. The missionary must be willing to coach and encourage those starting a business through the long term, personally on the ground. We have the desire for unified teaching materials and the unit must be able to develop their own curriculum. Many women are unable to read and write therefore auditory materials may be needed.
Serving South Sudan believes in an incarnational approach to missions. The missionary(s) must be willing to be a student of the culture, learn the language and or languages, take a posture of humility and always assume good will.
Life in Northern Uganda and South Sudan can be sad and difficult. Although there are days you must be more driven and serious, continuing in such a state can be hazardous to your health. Therefore it is imperative that the missionary have a sense of humor.
Each has an application process and training that is required. In addition to this Serving South Sudan does on the ground training for the new missionaries. Several books are required to read. One month survey trip strongly recommended.
